World Malaria Day-April 26th
Every year, millions of people around the globe observe World Malaria Day on April 25. The ELCA Malaria Campaign is again turning this day into a special week. Right now, we are at a historic moment in the life of our church and this campaign. Five years ago we set a goal, dreamed big with our Lutheran companion churches and partners, and set out to raise $15 million by 2015. The time to make this dream a reality is now. Together, we have already raised over 90 percent of our goal. If we join together during this special time, we have the opportunity to reach the $15 million mark. Our goal by the end of World Malaria Week is that we will have raised $1 million, enough to fully fund the rest of our country programs. If we don't reach our goal, malaria programs will not be able to be fully funded. The time is now. Together, we can make a lasting impact.
Please give to the campaign by making checks payable to St. Mark's and writing "malaria campaign" in the memo line. You can also give through St. Mark's website (designate your gift to the Malaria Campaign)

Adult Forum, April 26-Lutheran Theology of Healing
St. Mark's member Dr. Kyle Schiefelbein is an adjunct professor at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary. In this adult forum, he will discuss a Lutheran theology of healing in which Christ is both doctor and remedy, one of the topics covered in his recent dissertation. This will be placed alongside the church's current ritual practices of healing.
Next Sunday, May 3: Claimed, Gathered, Sent - We are Lutheran
Does being the church matter? If it does, why and how do we as members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) make a difference in the world? By being church together, what can the ELCA uniquely offer to the world? This is the second of a series of five Sundays reflecting on what being the church means today.  This Sunday we look at how we are Lutheran.
